Chitranaatya is basically a dance institution but it is not just that. It is not just another dance class. It is an institution, more precisely a cultural centre with a vision. A vision which says: "Art for all, art for change".
Mission
To give good art at
low cost or
no cost
HOW DOES CHITRANAATYA DO THIS?
At the outset by teaching the techniques of Bharathanatyam and Classical music to students at very nominal cost, Chitranaatya gives them the tools. Then songs and dances are composed for very relevant themes like environment protection, dowry problem, gender inequality etc. The students while learning itself absorb the values of the institution. Changing the society for the better through art.
GURUJI'S MESSAGE
Classical dance and music instead of becoming tools for upliftment of the society are now becoming very commercial in their manifestations. Chitranaatya wants to change this scenario.
Why should art become the asset of rich only? Even the economically poorer section of the society should get its share in art field. Chitranaatya distributes copies of Rangashale-the play collection, free of cost to government schools and the needy children. With this dream chitranaatya is conceptualised, there are many things in society which have to be changed.
